yup
it's a long story but humans were sort of mostly wiped out a long time ago, so i never knew any growing up

But your current issue is that you don't know how to date a human boy as a non-human, but you do know how to be a human boy dated by a non-human. Therefore, can't you just flip the script?

maybe? i've been here a while but i'm still getting used to human society, so i'm not sure how good i'd be at assuming human junk

It's not that difficult. Be straightforward. Remember to compliment. Gifts are usually well received. Like plants. Physical contact is appreciated. If you have to leave in the middle of a date to fight enemies, remember to send a message after you're done rather than three weeks later.

that's probably what i'd do, Varian isn't much of a melee fighter but he's got great aim with his alchemy bombs

I did try to avoid dating civilians after that for that reason. They feel so fragile, compared to people you can fight with.

nope! not like i got any power to boss people around as a knight, i just follow whoever i'm dedicated to's orders and that's usually 'save people you dingus'
having to worry about people being schemey sounds rough

It's easier when things are simpler. Easier to trust them. Not to mention you have time to spend with them. More opportunities to make things work.
